Privacy Policy — Baby Buddy Companion
Baby Buddy Companion (“the app”) is an unofficial mobile and web client for a self-hosted Baby Buddy server. It is not affiliated with the Baby Buddy project.
Summary
Baby Buddy Companion does not operate a cloud backend for your baby data. You connect the app to your own Baby Buddy server using a URL and API token. Care logs and child information are stored on that server under your control.
Data the app handles
When you use Baby Buddy Companion, you may enter or view:
- Baby Buddy server URL
- API token (authentication key from your Baby Buddy User Settings)
- Child profiles (names, birth dates, photos)
- Care activity logs (sleep, feeding, diaper, timers)
- Feed reminder preferences (stored on your device for local notifications)
Where data is stored
- On your Baby Buddy server: profiles and activity logs you create or edit through the app
- On your device: API token, server URL, selected child, and reminder schedule (local storage / app preferences)
- Not on Companion developer servers: the app authors do not receive your baby data, tokens, or server URL
Network
The app sends API requests only to the Baby Buddy base URL you configure. Prefer HTTPS. The Android build may allow cleartext HTTP for local-network (LAN) self-hosting at your own risk.
Payments
If you buy the Android app on Google Play, payment is processed by Google. The app developer does not receive your full payment card details. Google’s purchase and refund terms apply to Play Store transactions.
Notifications
Baby Buddy Companion can schedule local feed reminders on your device. These do not require a Companion push-notification service.
Photos
If you choose a child photo, it is uploaded to your Baby Buddy server using that server’s media API. The app does not upload photos elsewhere.
Children’s privacy
Baby Buddy Companion is intended for parents and caregivers. Child information you enter is stored on the Baby Buddy server you administer. We do not knowingly collect children’s data onto developer-operated servers.
Data deletion
- Remove or change data in your Baby Buddy instance (or delete that instance)
- Uninstall the app to clear the locally stored API token and preferences on that device
- Revoke or rotate your API token in Baby Buddy User Settings
Third parties
Baby Buddy Companion does not include advertising SDKs or analytics that send your care data to third parties. The Android and web runtimes may use standard platform services (for example, OS notification scheduling). Google Play may process purchase-related data under Google’s policies.
